Fin-bore
« on: Feb 11, 2004, 04:55 PM »
I know you can get a power head for the nils master but can you also get one for the fin-bore III??? If not can u use the same power head as the nils master does? I think that if I were to put a power head on my 8 inch fin bore it would cut quite nicely!

No....and yes. ;) I have seen guys that made a shaft that connects to the lower part of a Fin-bore, and they made an adaptor to connect to a Tanaka power head. This is all custom work, and unless you do it yourself (or know someone that can do it), it will probably cost you as much as the Nils. The other thing to consider is the fluting on the Fin-Bore does not go as high as the Nils. It might be difficult to use once you get into deeper ice, but I can't say that for sure.
