Steuben co. Ice
« on: Feb 22, 2019, 12:49 PM »
Is there an ice thickness report for Clear or Crooked lakes in Steuben Co.? Is it shot with this warm up?

I apologize for being THAT GUY. But I live in indy and haven't spoken with anyone up that way.

Thanks! Good luck everyone

Ice was 6-8" pretty much everywhere last weekend on Clear Lake. I dont think the temps this week had too much of an effect, as I've seen multiple guys in marina bay and out by the island on webcams today. The rain temps tomorrow night will definitely knock it down a few inches.

The temps wouldn't scare me as much as wind
If we get 50 mph winds not only gonna cut the ice but shelters are not fun. My shanty in 30 mph was collapsing on itself. Wear cleats and anchor down good.

I'd say there was at least 6 on clear lake when I went the other night. I'm not experienced enough to tell you if it's good or bad ice though. Being alone and in the dark on unfamiliar ice can be a little nerve racking lol.

No fish to show for it but I was able to get out today on a lake for a few hours today. I did have the whole lake to myself! ;D
