Choice Lithium ion or nicad

Building some man toys that are battery operated & installing usb port rechargeable batteries. Pricing is about even on batteries, but looking for input on difference between em' in colder ambient & extended storage.

My understanding is that cold temperatures adversely affect the performance of nickel-cadmium batteries much more than lithium-ion batteries.

I think using lithium-ion batteries will help keep the performance of your equipment at a higher level than nickel-cadmium batteries.

With qualities like high energy densities, no memory effect, and a slow loss of charge when not in use, lithium-ion batteries would be my choice.

NiCad can develop a memory whereas Li-Ion doesn't.

Lithium maintains a more constant voltage throughout the use of it's charge. That's important for some electronics.

You will be sorry if you use NiCads.  I didn't even know they made them anymore.

The battery "memory" is a flaw in that technology.  Any of today's battery technology is superior to NiCads.
