Yeah, we've been getting the odd Doggie for the last few weekends that we were out(LML). I would imagine that Foxes Point should be pretty good.

Foxes Point is just north of Spring Bay on the east side of the lake. The north side of the point is a large flat & the south side is pretty close to being the deepest part of the lake. Some say that Pelican Point is pretty good for Doggies as well. Good luck.

A joke maybe, but I'm serious...my kids love to go ice fishing in the spring and watch the burbot and big pike cruising by the camera.  If a couple of them catch enough for lunch, the whole group is happy.  Plus, for quite a few of them, it is some of the only time until late summer that they will get to spend time with their parents just lounging out and spending the day together.
They practice conservation and keep one for the table.  We measure every fish we catch and plot out population graphs in our natural sciences class after the trip...they may only be grade 7-9 students, but they take their "research" very seriously.

You can only learn so much sitting in a classroom.  Glad to hear you give them a chance to experience the outdoors.
Those are the types of things that stick in their minds for years to come.
Good work pants!  I am interested in hearing about this year's research!

Good on you Saskman I'm a teacher also and know the vast difference between classroom and realtime learning. I used to teach O.E. here until our board adopted stupid rules due to the death of those kids in the California ocean a few years ago. My last year I was told no knives , no fires, no snares, no field trips. I've never offered it again. Whats the point!
Hell, if I'd jumped on all the dames I'm supposed to have jumped on, I'd have had no time to go fishing.

No big ones.  And didn't weigh any but I'd say 5lb was probably the biggest.

Good enough for eating.
