The Spawning Grounds?
« on: Feb 12, 2013, 01:44 PM »
With Spawning time just around the corner what type of topography should I be targeting for them. To be honest with ya I am not looking for the cusk ( we call them that here in Maine) but I am looking for the Togue ( lakers ) that will be around feeding on the eggs.

Up here the burbot spawn in 5-20 feet of water over sand flats adjacent to drop-offs. Another spot may be some sandy mid-lake humps. The depth where they spawn is different for every lake, but generally the type of structure that they spawn over is consistent. This is also a good idea because some of the big lakers would even be looking for some burbot to eat.

I don't live to fish, I fish to live.
