Painting leaders

Has anyone tried painting a steel leader? Maybe light blue or dark green? Just wondering if this would decrease visibility. Thoughts?

I make my own and just use black coated wire. ;)

Why not just buy steel leader in the color of water you fish? You can get green or brown easily.

Didn't know they sold them in other colors. I haven't pike fished much, and the only ones I've seen in my local shops were shiny silver. But thanks for filling me in; I had a look around and ordered a few in green.
