Clam hub loose
« on: Dec 02, 2021, 10:18 AM »
I just bought a used hub style Clam shelter and one of the sides pops back in way easier than the other sides.  Is there a way to "tighten" it back up?  Its a JM 5000.  Not sure what year.  Can I just tighten the nut on the inside?  The guy said he was selling it due to wanting a different door style.  Sounds like he tripped a few times coming out of it, as the loose side is one with a door.

Are any of the poles damaged? What diameter are the poles ..the thinner ones ..like in hunting blinds can become weak and or damaged over time .

The poles don't appear to be damaged.  From what I gleaned online they are 11mm.

I'll take a look at it.  I literally just picked it up last night.  I've not taken one apart before but I don't imagine there's anything in there I can't get back together.

Maybe but when we met up he said he was getting rid of it to get one with a different style door because this style is hard to get out of in a hurry to go get a jaw jacker and he wasn't a skinny guy so I'm thinking he's bent it trying to get out in a hurry.

I took that back nut off and there's really nothing in there to adjust.  Now I will try to find a replacement hub with without shipping costs that are as high as the hub.

Why not keep it and just always anchor it? Keep the the Paracord tight

That's probably what I will do until I see if it's really an issue.

When our work tents had this problem we would stuff a rag into the bottom pockets the rods fit into. This would put more tension on that wall. Don't know if you are having the same problem, but worth a try.
It seems to go from zero to hero all some have to do is lie.
