Any ice showing up on the lakes? We had some ice on ponds in the south.

As I posted in the “It’s getting closer” thread, Lance Pond in Clarks Summit is completely frozen over now.  I’m sure it’s very thin ice, though.

Some of our smaller ponds are capped now. Not enough to walk on, but no open water.

Checked our community’s small lake(10 acres) this morning and it was capped with about 1.5” of ice.
Supposed to get in the 50’s and rain tomorrow, so not sure it will last, but good to see none the less!  @)

I broke the ice and turned a piece up on it’s side so you could see the thickness

A buddy sent me a YouTube link of a guy fishing tip-ups yesterday morning on 2.5” of ice somewhere in PA.

Don’t think I’d risk my life on that kinda ice just to be “THE FIRST GUY IN PA ICE-FISHING THE 2021-22 SEASON” as he proudly stated. Looked like he was in sweatpants and sweatshirt, so no floatation suit and he appeared to be alone- not too smart in my opinion!) ::)

Would you be able to post the link?

Fair enough. I did find it though. The ice looks junky at best. Not even a set of picks around his neck. He mentions in the comments about fishing in water that isn't deeper than he is tall, I understanding ice growth and tensile strength. Still unsafe. That's the kind of stuff that causes others to do unsafe things.

Didn't watch the whole clip; when I saw the thickness of the ice, just shook my head and stopped watching. Hope no newbies think that is a model for ice safety.

Yup, seen the same post and Ruttnut was right, it’s not worth risking your life just to say you were the ‘first’ on the ice.  Really, who cares.  I’m not impressed with some guy going out on a couple inches of ice just to boast.

Was out by gouldsboro yesterday (thurs dec 2nd) so I decided to check it out… definitely fully locked up with some puddles on top from the overnight rain. Can’t comment on ice thickness but seeing it fully frozen was nice. As long as it survives Monday’s rain we could be good to go soon

This weather is a major setback.  I love sunny, mild days but this weekend is killing our chances of getting on ice before January.  We will need a major cold front in the next week to git r dun.

Wonder if he was at High Point. Some other site said there were people out on the ice there a couple of weeks ago!
