Im going to assume the conditions havent gotten any better since last post, but anyone got any tips? Just moved out here from the adirondacks and never fished it... I did a scout run and saw the access is pretty limited... Parking? Is there any point fishing below the causeway in the settling basin area? Would love to hook into my first tiger or lay some crappie on the ice... Are there actually browns in there too?

North end usually is first to freeze. Good access along the guard rails. Several folks do well for the tigers there as well. I haven't got any decent amount of crappies there in a few years. I'm sure that someone else can chime in with some pointers.  ;D

As BigAl said along the guard rail at the dam has spots. There is also Otisco Lake Park just a little south of the dam, small lot in front of that and it is also a good access point once the main lake if frozen. There are browns in there, fish just under the ice in the bay by the restraurant.

I haven't had time to fish in a few years due to coaching obligations.  Hoping to see a few of you out there for the first time in a long time. Good luck

Joey,  Not ready yet but its starting to finally look promising.  Main lake South of Turtle Bay is still open water.

Anyone been on Otisco this week?  Hoping the cold nights may have tightened it up..
Would really appreciate if anyone has recent info - always a bummer to make the long drive only to turn around...

Thanks

I remember as a kid once the ice was real iffy, so we walked out & pulled our canoe along on a rope...  The idea was we'd just climb in if the ice started to break, and fish from there.

It's a wonder I lived to adulthood, really.

Can anyone report on the ice?  I decided to go down to Whitney - was just about 4 inches opposite the park.  Not great but enough...  Fishing was very slow anyway.

I measured exactly 5" north end of main lake. Probably a dozen people at North end including a snow dog. 4 of us iced 15 tigers, couple bass. Nothing big.
really 15 tigers and not 1 pic come on be for real.

That's too funny.  The only person who is "for real" posting on this thread that I see is Tigerwoodmusky.  All the "bigs" and trappers need to stop being such a bunch of little old ladies
