There are guys fishing the dam today. Cant be much ice. I hope they give us a clue how thick it is out there

I was out there today with bigal a good solid 4 inches of black ice I was all over out there searching for crappies..no luck but I think that's because I was fishing with bigal...i was marking fish I seen 2 nice tigers caught they were both released met cuse88. Nice person my other buddy Dave had a big school of crappies cruise by him wouldn't hit seen a few nice bass caught also...i did catch a few gills and a perch...all in all a nice day to be on the ice...

Fished last Friday 3-4" good ice and frozen out to narrows. The wind and warm was not what we needed. As of this morning there was open water 1/3 of the way into the bay and nobody out. Yesterday there were 3 guys but between the buoys and damn where the ice was thicker. The typical fishing locations is not safe.

Thanks for the heads up Reel Laxin! Hopefully the cold weather the next few days will harden it back up for us. Maybe next week will look better, dying to get out.

Heard that no one has stopped in at ryfuns for bait yet. Hence, no one is out on the ice yet..

5 guys out today including myself. We left at noon.

Narrows still wide open and losing ice with the south wind.

Spudded a few holes early am trying to get closer to the narrows but only about 2" best, not safe enough for me so we Worked our way back to fish on 3.5".

B/w Sven and I we caught about 100 blues. Maybe 10 decent but we threw them all back.

Sven also caught a few dink perch and 3 small bass.

Guys running tip ups but only saw 1 flag dropped.

I dont plan to go back until the narrows are safe. From what I saw today we are probably talking a few weeks.

Don't know about u bigal..i remember fishing with u a few times u fish a hole for 30 minutes no fish you leave I get 3 slab crappies ..i like fishing with u I don't have to drill holes ill just fish behind u and catch fish....

Fished at dam with 2 friends today...was 4-6" ice and a little slush on top. ..ended with 3 man limit of gills n few perch each

Big Guy there will be lots of gills left...U should a went to Whitney with me over the weekend we unknowingly followed big al around n slapped the crappie
