Never fished NY before. Just moved to Cuse. I've got an itch I hope to scratch tomorrow. I'm going to be going on a drive to find some ice. If I end up checking Otisco I'll fill you in on the ice conditions. I'm assuming I can park near that dam I can see on google maps? Looks like theres a little park or something there.

Yes. You can park roadside near the dam. If u go there, watch out for the culvert about halfway down the guard rail. There's almost always open water there. You can also find a county park a couple miles south of the dam, on the east side. But if the ice is no good by the dam, it's most likely no good at the park.

I was there for maybe 30minutes. I went out and to the left with my girlfriend and there was only 1 1/2 - 2 inches of good black ice over there. Didn't stay long though because there wasn't a lot of ice and it cracked a few times real good and even sunk a little. There were some other guys out there too but I'm going to give it a few more days before I go back out there. No fish to me is worth getting wet for in January!

I actually had one pop up in my hole in the shanty lol scared us both

.........you see a lot of muskrats pop up on the ice out there when it's warm

...Fellas...thanks for the help, but i think ill just stay with TUUKKA( Deadbait, Tuukka is doing great a big strong healthy 1.5 yr old Thanks for asking)..sounds like we got another week to go before anyone is comfortable on the ice. fished today 10am to 3pm between narrows and dam

was 4" good black ice and couple inches off half frozen slushy snow on top...easy walking !!! had to look for fish for couple hrs n then I found the honey hole n took a limit of gills n 7 perch home

fished again today 4" ice and now the snow slush is water n slush couple inchs deep.... did lots of sorting for limit a gills and got 2 crappie n one perch worth keeping

Probably a blessing in disguise. Drove by at 4 yesterday and not a soul on the ice. Lots of water on the ice and plenty of open water as well.

Your not missing anything big guy.....was gonna fish this morning and one is here and ice thined out last night 2"-4" white ice n almost no black ice....checked out to 50yrds from gardrail....going somewhere else
