That ice was more than able to support my skinny butt wearing heavy clothes, equal to about 22 gallons of water, spread out over the surface area of my boot(less than 1/2 sq foot).

Just don't want to see you go through bud !! I won't step foot on a lake or pond until there's atleast 8 inches .. Be careful while having fun ..

The point is that an inch of water on the ice weighs a lot more than an inch of snow. Wet snow typically is 5-10:1, where it takes 5-10 inches of wet snow to equal an inch of rain. Dry snow is anything above 10:1.

My response(AGAIN) is that a person on the ice weighs a lot more than an inch of water

; not to mention when the pics were taken last year there was less than 1/4".
