Lake is setting up nicely but this warm up may hurt.  Saw a guy was out spudding in Burtis.  Didn't get far.

There is no ice now.  The weather report looks favorable for ice by the end of the month but it's not a sure thing.  Wind snow etc. Etc. Could still mess things up

Save the time and gas money. I haven’t even driven up to check yet, but I can’t imagine it’s any good anywhere yet.

Donzo. Snow on it and it hasn’t been nearly cold enough.  A look at the extended doesn’t look good either. I think it might be time to pack it in. I don’t think it’s gonna happen this year

It’ll happen. I guarantee we (well I will be), on the ice by Feb 3rd. Haven’t been skunked on the old skuttlebutt in 43 years. Not happening this year even if I have to float in my mustang suit jigging.

No problem bud. Heading East the next 2 weekends then it’s all going downstairs unless we get some cold weather. But next week is more of the same and nothing is trending towards cold.

I think the salt in the wound is just how perfect all this weather would have been to be on the ice, if only we could have gotten 6” of ice in late December. Killer just waiting to go. If it happens the boss should not expect me around work much in February that’s for darn sure!!

i scouted the ice yesterday (sunday). 2.75" of black, honeycombed ice in the southern basin (cheney pt.), it was pretty creaky and only 2 hits with the spud bar to go thru. northern basin (prendergast launch) had only 1.5", same condition. didn't go out too far. about an inch of slushy water on top. this Tues - thurs nights will bring pretty chilly temps that may give us 4" or better on the southern basin, if there is not too much snow cover. there is no snow cover on it now.

How’s the fishing down there? Heading down Sunday    Heard the walleye action was really good but haven’t heard much of the perch or crappie action

I hear ya SteelieWheelie, I’m not on Facebook. I enjoy reading about the reports on Iceshanty, but seems less & less. I get this year blows, but hoping that changes soon and I can get out there a couple times🎣

Fished Chautauqua most of day Friday.  Couple pix for info.  Not sure if you can see numbers with the panorama view I took but probably 50 or 60 people out.  Couple short eyes.  Long point from 7 til 10:30 then to Burtis Bay for perch for a couple hours (I was only one on the bay, could not find weeds, few small perch, littered with those black flecks which don’t look appetizing) then back to long point for primetime bite (that wasn’t for me).  I think because it has been such a crap winter with only a handful of days to get on good ice, people are tight lipped about their outings.  More of a ramble than BS, happy to be out doin it.  13 inch eye was put back and swam away fine (before I get berated for putting a shorty on the ice for 30 seconds)

It looks like in your pic that ice there is about 3-4”. Can you confirm? Thanks.

Just be aware that a lot of the shore ice was compromised from last weekend’s weather. It has hardened up enough for people to get on at Long Point but the way this season has been that can change quickly.

We fished long point this morning,  no issues with shore ice. Machines were buzzing around. Big pressure ridge east of the point but no issues crossing it. Moved around on the hunt and saw no less then 6 inches of ice and 8 in one spot. Was a tough bite today lots of dinks.

North of Long Point this am. No eyes, couple short perch around 5 inches everywhere. Tried burtis in pm, didn't like it. Anyone know what's up with cones out from launch? Ended up at bemus by casino. Few short perch, around 4.5 inches, some of it junky looking.
