"The Pack" Map..accurate ?
« on: Dec 18, 2011, 02:59 PM »
I found this map of Lake Wallenpaupack and wanted to know if the species listings are accurate. I have only fished the pack a few times and could use some direction, since its just so big and honestly just overwhelming for someone used to fishing lakes 1/10 of its size.

Looks pretty accurate (species wise)... and you can add Brown Trout, Pickerel, and "rumors" of Northern Pike to the mix as well.

Nice pike there Ski! Looks like they're doing well in there.

What about musky? They used to be in the Pack as well, no?

Have to put your time in on the pack. Treat it as 12 small lakes and you will do well. Go to the visiter center and see the old pics. That will give you a clue. She does give up nice fish once in a while  ;D

SkiHunter, 100 yds directly behind you is a hump that tops out around 6 ft and has weeds. You get pike there on crankbaits fishing for bass...Mark

thats right about where she was taken  ;)

I cought a few pike in there and the fish commission claims they were never stocked there and beleives they came in from some other private lake that feeds into the pack.  If you want a good map of the lake get one from poconolakemaps.

That's the story I got from the PFBC as well... dam breach on a private lake that fed into the Pack following Hurricane Ivan (~2005?).

Don't get me started... I never understood why the PFBC would not support pike fisheries.

Maybe you should start hassling them again      "even guys 2000 miles away want a shot at northerns in eastern PA"

They are there now so just let them do what comes naturaly and probably will allways be there.  I don't think pike will hurt very much.
