Definitely not around the Tupper Lake area.  Temps didn't get really warm today but there is no way 3-5" of ice around here even on the smaller ponds.  Lots of rain tonight with temps still in the mid 30's

Yep in the adirondacks, not nearly as far north as you'd think.  Here's a picture...

Hmmm, what do you know about walleye fishing? Saratoga Lake?  Any others?  For the right exchange of info I'll book the hotel for you :D

I'm not asking you to tell me the lake or pond you fished just the general area you fished? (Saranac, lake placid, tupper...)

thanks PK

We got about 3 inches of snow last night here in Saranac Lake.  Not a good sign.  Hopefully it will blow off the ponds.  Glad I fished hard last weekend.

Made the trip to Malone today and this is what I found.

Tupper Lake has some ice out from the shore line about 50 yds except in the big lake.

Middle Saranac has some ice in the sheltered bays but the main lake is still open.

Fish Creek area has some ice but lots of open spots.

Barnum Pond is completely frozen over.  Problem is it's trout pond and no ice fishing.

Mecham Lake has some ice in the bays but lots of open water.

Thanks for the report Adkman. I love making that drive up Rt. 30! Of course, when I lived in Malone I loved making the drive down Rt. 30.

I believe it's real action from the 11/26/07 date claimed. It looks like Adirondack Lake to me. That place is certainly small enough to be one of the first frozen, and has a good pike population.

Fuller its not Adirondack Lake . I have a house up that way the shoreline does not match up. Any small pond we'll be froze now.

Temps dropped like a rock here the last 2 days and Raquette Pond, Simond Pond are frozen over.  I haven't been out on them but with the temps in the single digits and little snow cover it should be fishable by next weekend.

I haven't been over there this year but lived in Newcomb for 20 yrs.  With the weather the way it has been for the past week I would say that the bay is going to be fishable this comming weekend.

how much snow fell up in Lake Placid/ Saranac last night ???
I'm a little concerned about heading back up next week. I don't want to be falling through because the thin ice is/was covered with snow.

We only got 1 inch so far of snow here in Saranac Lake.  Here, Lake Placid and Tupper Lake are the only schools in the area I know of that did not cancel school today.  Hopefully we keep missing the heavy snow, esp since most spots now have a skim on them from Saturday night's 0 degree low.  7 inches of snow on 1 inch of ice would be a VERY bad thing.

about 3 or 4 inches of snow here in Ti hoping we miss round 2 tonight.  The snow does suck however, Wish it could have held off for 2 weeks to lock up the small guys,  but hey this is better than 60 degrees in January like it was last year.  Fishing before Christmas haven't done that in a while.
