I sometimes drive my small gas saver car to the ice instead of the truck and was wondering if any of you use a compact sled? After doing some searching I have only come up with 2 options.

Concrete mixing tubs work pretty well, thats what I used to use. Try to add something to the bottom to make them more durable though

How small is it? A Festiva or smaller? Back seat or no? Maybe a Renault Le Car?
You could build something along the idea of a"Smitty Sled" and use a flat piece of plywood, which would be the largest piece and eye blots, bungies or a net to keep items on board.
Need more info to continue....

Its a toyota yaris 3 door hatchback. Right now I'm leaning toward just getting that terrain utility sled since there would be no room for an auger on the strike master sled. I just measured the car and it looks like it would fit in the back even without folding the back seat down. Should be lots of extra room with the back seat folded down.

kiddie ski's with one or two milkcrates on them works great. add two aluminum tent poles to the top crate and now you get 2 rod holders and a auger carrier. add 2 more aluminum poles and your rod carriers double and you have 360 degree coverage for deadsticking around you posted a pic somewhere on here but I don't know what thread it's under

Here's what I use. It's a concrete mixing tub. I added a push handle with rod holders as well as some flip out things to hold my auger. It's great for hole hopping and fits in the trunk of my solara.

I too built a mini-smitty with a concrete mixing tub. It's more durable than those kiddie sleds, and fits well in the trunk of my car. Very easy to customize.

the jet sled jr is pretty small and not very wide either.fits in a car trunk easily.

I ended up just ordering the Terrain sled at 36'' it should fit in the back with the seat up. Some great homemade ideas on here. I would like to go that route but I am short on time right now. We just had our first kid and she is only 4 months old. So that's also the reason for needing to fit everything in the car with the seat up.
I am not sure why I didn't think about getting a cargo carrier. I already installed a trailer hitch to haul the 12 ft aluminum boat in the open water season. Thanks for the heads up on that. I will definitely be getting one of those if not this winter for sure this spring for road trips. They look reasonably priced too.

Menards has a black poly utility sled for around $20-$25. It even comes with a molded bottom that holds a pair of five gallon buckets, and has room for some other gear too. It fit in the trunk of my '90 Corolla just fine.
