had the day off so i decided to do a quick shake down of the gear, auger, showdown etc. so i headed up the hill to the club. 7" of black ice with a dusting of snow. setup before the sun was up over the trees.
had quite a few flags from 8 to 11 then it kind of trailed off around 12:30. picked up at 2. the magic time of 10:30 i had 3 flags up at once. caught a few small bass, largest maybe 1.8 lb. a nice 13oz perch and some crappie. all the fish were dark as the water is quite brackish.
overall a good day to start the season, plus it's been a while having safe ice before xmas..woo hoo
here are a few pics
one of the bass, these little buggers sure peel off the line
one of the crappies, beautiful black and gold
blob perch, this thing will be huge in the spring full of eggs.
the club ice fishing derby is scheduled for Jan 29th, for anyone who wants to show. a few did last year, fun time for sure
rain tomorrow am, drilled some holes near shore so i can watch from the truck 'til about noon...then....
GO PATS!! burp
