I am thinking of switching over to circle hooks on my tip ups and was wondering what size hook you all recommend.

I think somewhere between #6 and 1/0 will work, probably a #4 would be perfect

#2, if not 1/0.  Tried 4's and 6's with minimal success, even on walleyes.  If you are using big bait, go with 1/0 or larger.

A #4 circle hook is way too small for fishing pike...there would be a lot of missed hooksets or worse, guthooks due to swallowing.  If you are fishing an area with predominantly stunted fish and are using small bait a #4 might cut it but under most circumstances you probably want to go with a #2-#1/0 for pike. Using the next size or up in a circle hook from what you would use in a normal baitholder will result in better hooksetting in large-mouthed fish such as pike.  Beware that hook sizes are sometimes not standardized from one manufacturer to another though.  Newcomers to circle hooks who usually complain about pulling the bait out of a fish's mouth or problems with guthooking are usually using too small of a hook.
