I pulled the trigger on a new pair of boots. The 1000gr Itascas are still going strong, but decided to try the 1600's for those colder sits! ;)

I did that this year as well and my wife has commented on it has only held beer thus far! I'll have to grab a dozen waxies to keep in there for looks!
For ice fishing I didn't buy anything...yet!?!

Ordered one of the new 13 Fishing Widow Maker 27" SUL, looking forward to getting my hands on it when it arrives today. Going to pair it up with one of the new President in-lines that arrived last week.

I bought a new jiggin rod last year. Not sure why. We get 6 weeks of safe ice. If were lucky. I have been looking ay inline reels. Not sure if it's worth it.

I buy way to much ice gear, but I am ok with that lol. I just picked up 2 jaw jackers and 2 rods to dedicate to them. Then I picked up 2 36 inch medium action to pair with the okuma abf 500s that I bought last year to dedicate to DIY I-fish-pro tip-ups. Trying to convince the wife why I need a panoptix but I that sh@% isn't gonna happen. Lol. Cant fault a man for trying.

Kautz, two questions: First, what method are you using to catch the chubs? I have been striking out last two years using cone traps in the local creeks, but I am trying when it is much colder, like January.
Second question: How will you keep them alive for the next few months until ice forms? What will you feed them?

I was thinking something like.................. ....................wh en you sink your ATV in Lake Wallenpaupack, it would help you find it so you could pull it out and avoid the $1000/day fine from the State! ;)

Carpboy i catch them the second or third week october if you go any later you will really struggle to find them in numbers. I use 1/200th trout mini magnet with a small piece of worm from a ultra light pole this is the best way to catch those 3-4.5in ones i'm looking for. I keep them in a 250 rubbermaid stock tank with a pond aerator pump and a homemade spray bar. clean the filter every two weeks and every couple days give em some goldfish food. I use them from kayak in the river from December till we get ice on it. Best river bait hands down!!!

A transducer arm. I've seen the advantage over the float that came with. Oh, and one new spoon. lol.
Only other money I'm likely to spend is on bait. Keep it simple. The season is often too short.

Moved from gas auger to cordless drill with pistol bit and got a 3 man (realistically 2 man) Ice Runner flip end of last season. Only got it out 1x past year, so I am still calling it new. ;)
Also picked up a pair of ice runner float bibs. Besides that, just a few jigs and some organizing racks for the way too many ice rods. Built a few last season and itching to put them to use. Ready to get on the ice!!

2 new 6.0 Amp hour porter cable Batts
New/ backup 20v porter cable brushless drill. Ist one died. Using older brushed drill, wanted a spare just in case.
Plethora of new jigs, blades, and baits through the year.
Can't wait til tax season... eskimo outbreak 450.

I've sold off my Marcum LX5 and upgraded to a Marcum LX7 Lithium.
Sold off my Eskimo 10" HEAVY shark auger and upgraded to a super light weight Ion 8".
Just bought a nice set of used skis on Marketplace and I'm rebuilding and upgrading my Smitty as we speak.
And anything else I can think of before safe ice happens.. :thumbsup:

I ordered 10 new 5mm custom ice fishing jigs from Michigan. I counted my existing ice fishing jigs and I only had 80. I counted them after I ordered the new ones in my defense. And then I thought about last year when I really only used four of them the whole season. But hey I’m ready.

I just got my 10 in jiffy STX drill from jiffy. I bought a demo for half price and it looks new. Jiffy is great for customer support.

Bought a 8" lite flite auger from a place called Pro Fishing Supply free shipping, no tax but you should pay it 😲 179.99 cheapest I found thought it was a fluke I figured PayPal will return money if I didn't get it, but 5 days later I got it all we need is ice.

I bought an 8" Eskimo pistol bit, and an adapter, so I can attach it to my propane auger instead of lugging it around with the 10" bit that came with it. Gonna be so much lighter.

Ice Runner has great prices. I just bought the bibs and my buddy got a full suit. Did not use them yet with no ice, but they seem to be pretty decent quality.

Urgently eyeballing the strikerIce Hard water bins and strike master lite flight but ain’t making any major purchases until we have ice- gotta avoid the jinx.

My wife bought me the BOREAS float suit from WindRider (per my request). I did a lot of research and shopping around for a quality float suit that wouldn’t break the bank. I decided that this was the one that I wanted. No ice yet, so I haven’t been able to use it. But I will say that I love how it fits. It seems to be really well made. Big tough zippers, thick outer layer, room for movement… I did get a XXL. Would normally wear XL, but the sizing chart suggested that I should go bigger. I’m glad I did. It fits perfect. I’m 6’2” and 200lbs. I like extra room for layering if I desire it. It seems very warm. I tried on the suit in my living room and started burning up quick. I never got that toasty dressing for shoveling snow in my living room. And I wear the thickest carharrt bibs they make. Best warranty and customer service that I could find from any other manufacturer. They are worth a look.

I just bought simms challenger insulated jacket and bibs through reeds sports. At checkout it was $600 for the set and I entered the promotion code “ICE”. Brought it down to $419. It needed up being less than a lot of other outfits I was looking at so I am happy so far

I bought the marcum m5l this year.. my old marcum works fine but it's old enough that it isnt brushless and makes all kinds of noise!!!! I needed one that was QUIET

Let’s see … new shelter, jet sled and runners , jigging rods , tip ups , heater, tungsten jigs, ice line, laser auger, Dewalt 20 v brushless hammerdrill , as back up found a NOS Ryobi 2 cycle gas HD hammer drill and an adapter for the laser as a backup, 2 new mad bomber hats , outdoor edge razor fin ( crazy sharp). I think that’s it. I have not bought any bait yet but due to work today was my first day to go and as of last night the ice did not look promising.

And.. after fishing I decided that I need 2 more spare jigging rods and 15 more tungsten jigs.
It seems that when a bluegill that would normally be turned back swallows the expensive jig he gets to ride home with me. I can no longer quickly retie a knot in the dark so I can justify having at least 3 spare rods all rigged up just like a real bass fisherman or something.

2 things I purchased this year that I’m extremely glad I have 1 is an Eskimo wide 1 , best flip in the wind I’ve ever owned and iron decoy spoons , the drift factor is awesome 👍

Live scope is the best video game out there. Shallow water it isn't very effective for locating fish but the fun factor is up there. I wouldn't let go of the flasher or last screen you used as they are nice for being quick/ mobile/ light weight. I paired mine with 2 10ah lithium batteries and the system is something to lug around. Congrats

Kind of did what 800Stealth did - I finally pulled the trigger on a 2022 Kodiak SE. This will be primarily used in the winter but it is fun to ride in the summer.

Just got a dual beam transducer for my Garmin Striker 4+. Got it (The Garmin) for my kayak but it is just too good to not use ice fishing. Th ducer it came with is firmly glued in a scupper on my yak so... My old fl-18 is still kicking but this has so many more features; really looking forward to using it n the ice.

Whole lotta new gear: challenger bibs, jawjackers, eskimo 450xd, sled, rods, thermal tipups to chase big pike up north, jigs, heater, the lot. This is only my second season but I'm pumped. I've been watching too many videos of the Canadians having a blast on the hardwater and I can't wait for some good ice to hop on. Hoping cold spells start to show up.

Bought a buddy heater for ice season. Used it when quartering out our deer this week and am really impressed with it.
And then this weekend I am going to buy way too many K-Rip lures. With that we'll be all set for first ice up here. Cannot wait.

Just bought an 11# propane tank, fuel filter, and hose with gauge for the Mr Buddy. Added a JT gold digger blank too :).
So happy JT decided to sell ice blanks!!! Decent pricing too.

I acquired two pieces of ice fishing gear this week. First up, Engel 13 qt bait cooler in High-Viz Orange (ENGLBC13-N-OHV). I have been rocking mostly minnow buckets over the years, a couple coolers here and there. I have about had it with the buckets, too much spill hazard. We will see how it performs, but this unit seems very well constructed. I am planning to coat the lid seal with something in attempt to mitigate it freezing up. Also, it has the SS hinges (not the latches on front, but the hinges on the back) already on it. I was prepared to order the SS hinges to replace the plastic hinges, which the 7.5 qt version still has (or at least the units at the store I went to had).
Next, and much more exciting lol, I came across a DEC 2007 build Stanley 1.1 qt thermos (the classic green units) at St. Vinny's - $6.99. Could not pass it up. It is in great shape and the stopper seal still works. It will be on the ice with me this winter.

I have a weird attachment to my Stanley thermoses, I don't know why but I'm always so stoked to use them.
Also, Stanley will send you replacement gaskets or stoppers if yours break. I got two new stoppers for old thermoses I salvaged last year.
