Hearthstone is sanded as of yesterday. Should be goid to access now. About 11inches of ice.
I honestly don't know what the size is but I think 1/8 oz forage fry tipped with 2 grubs. Took forever to get that jig down but once I switched I caught almost every fish I marked. Have to work tmrw will be back out rest of the week.
It was my first time on the lake, I’ll do better next time. I use a graph sonar and I had a huge ball of bait swim in. It was pretty cool. I’ve never seen that before in a lake.
I've said for years that lakers love those little tungsten jigs. Not all but almost every one that shows up will take those little jigs. I suppose someday I'll have to get a little bigger rod and reel and try for them in deeper water. I didn't see this one show up on the flasher last week but the perch that were stacked 6 or 8' off bottom as the jig was getting to them raced back to the bottom. Knew there had to be a laker close. I lowered the jig to just off bottom and he jumped off bottom and crushed it. 40 minutes later after almost being spooled I had him.
They definitely do love those tungstens I can usually get most of them to hit when I mark one jigging perch. If I am actually targeting lakers though plastic are the way to go in my opinion that is all I ever use anymore.
Nice laker...What'd that go? 13-14lbs?
Lol if it did it would need to be 30" around. 30"ers are usually around 9lbs. I landed a 14lber it was a notch over 36"
Had something really cool happen on Sunday. Reeled up my jig to switch holes, and notice that my transducer got jostled as i pulled my jig out. I look down and see the red and white fins of a real nice lake trout. Drop my jig back down and he swings and misses. Ended up watching and playing with this fish for about 2 minutes, watching him swim back and forth whacking my jig with his body and tail. Finally, he came by and ate the thing, and I got 'em topside. Super cool. (Image removed from quote.)also we got this tanker the other day(Image removed from quote.)
