The walk was better than the fishing. Put over 3 miles in today for squat. 3 small lakers. They were glued to the bottom. As far as the walk. All the slushy areas I crossed today were frozen. Walking out on the main lake was bearable. Sometimes you stay on top of the snow, sometimes your sinking in 8-10". My sled rode on top the while time.
Yes it was a great time , I got my butt handed to me by you guys , but I didnt get a skunk , great lake and the and the mountains make a great back drop , do it again next year
Good time for sure!(Image removed from quote.)
Bearer of bad new....this report I made last night does NOT apply for the perch grounds. I am currently set up in 4in of water. Slush frozen to sled. Dreading the hike back in.
That reminds me of a time I was four wheeling with a buddy at my hunting camp. We were stopped taking a break for a minute and we heard something come banging up the trail, when I say trail that was really all it was. Ten minutes later two kids in their early twenties come bombing up in a brand new Lexus with jersey plates. They stopped and asked us if they were on the right road their gps told them they could go this way I still wish I would of told them to keep going. It's one of those places that is still labeled a road on some maps but hasn't been maintained in 40+ years once you get past the camps.
So MJB518 how was it out there today, is it getting easier getting around out there?
I was walking off the ice this afternoon at vets and noticed a vehicle that looked awfully close to the ice. As I got closer I could tell that they were stuck in the snow. They drove down the walking path at the park down the little embankment and out on the ice about 30 yards, stopped and tried to back up and off the ice. As I walk up to them I snapped a picture and this was our conversation :Me: well that wasn't a very good ideaThem: yeah, just a couple jersey kids that thought it would be fun to drive on the iceMe: are you trying to go out fishing? ( I already knew the answer)them: noMe: do you have any idea how much ice is out there? Them: the whole lake is frozen, right? (Me: ummm, do you know how thick the ice is? (Yup you guessed it)Them: is it thick enough? I see snowmobile and wheeler tracks.Me: I asked them if they had a rope or chain so that I could pull them out and they didnt. Started walking away shaking my head. The little angel on my shoulder said "hey you have a shovel", so I gave them my shovel and told them good luck! All 4 of there tires were just spinning. They were hung up on the frame.
