great gang of guys going over to Poland next month for the World Icefishing Championships.......a great member, contributor and moderator from Team B.C.(TGF)  is going to be a part of our representation ....the team mostly raises and contributes their own funds to fly, fish, and arrange accomodations to fly our colors for our country.....if anyone corporate or private wants to contribute for our country, please feel free to message, post or contribute funding for our proud TEAM CANADA....let me know....Grump  lets get er done!! Just curious, what's the target tourney species in Poland???

Target species will be roach, bream, perch, ruff. Their is other species there (pike perch, pike, eel, lavaret, European whitefish, European smelt) but we can't register them as part of our catch in Championship.

I heard USA is sending a Team so will get to meet them there. I have no idea who they are.

I would put a loonie beside my fishing hole but will be moving around alot to find fish within the playing field so would forget to pick it up. Maybe I will stick it in my eye socket      , probably get a few looks and throw some off their game plan.

I know three of the members from Edmonton that are on the team as well. Last year the Championship had a website, and posted daily weights etc. Do you know what the link is, I have been looking but I can't seem to find it.

Hey Terry just stand out there in your skivvies and boots with your jacket and hat and do a little fondling of the fish or what ever you do like with the burbot and those other teams will loose all concentration and Team USA will probably be rolling on the ice laughing so hard they will have beer coming out their noses.

Unfortunately will not be going this year as looks like there will be no ice. Our Team captain has withdrawn us from the competition since we will not find out till Feb 5 (officially) if it will go ahead. Its a deep lake and doesn't have ice yet plus the weather forecast doesn't look good. Clothing needed to be ordered and embroidered etc plus other affairs in order. 2 weeks wasn't enough time, so Team Canada is not going

Sweden was going to have a championship a couple years ago but got cancelled due to some sponsership problems.
The last one was in Riga Latvia in 2004.

You have to send off your Resume of your icefishing accomplishments, courses you have taken, ways you have improved the sport,  sponsers you have to come aboard, what you can bring to the team, and have the right connections

If USA didnt have a team, I would. But I love my country so go TEAM USA!!!!!
