I need help from you computer whizes.

This morning when I got on the computer I found that all of the print sizes have been enlarged.
 I got on I/S first and thought that it was something that the administrators had done and then I found it all over the computer.
 Is this something that I have done that I am unaware of or is it coming from another source?
 Thanks for the help.
 Also if it was my fault what do I do to correct it?

Is it just the print size or is everything bigger. ie. start menu, icons all of that? If it's the latter you probably got your resolution changed

You may have changed your text size. From your browser menu click View>Text Size> should be medium or select a size you prefer.

to adjust the resolution, on the desktop, right click and choose properties.  This windows has the options to adjust your resolution.  Try a few till you find your comfortable settings, everybody is a little different, the hgher the resolution the smaller the icons, sometimes games will reset the desktop to 800X600.  Hope this helps...

 It was the text size setting..Mamma gets on here every once in awhile and when she gets back off all kinds of wierd things happen.

last time I let my wife use my laptop with a wireless connection I ended up having to reformat my hard drive......my computer ended up with some kind of STD and nothing would get rid of it...not my antivirus, not my anti spyware software, nothing.  I think she disabled the firewall or reset my security settings..not to mention she connected to a non secure network which didn't require any authenication.....she's using the desktop from now on.  Good thing it was only your text size..it could have been worse!

Okay guys here is another one.
 I like to play freecell and when I'm playing the arrow pointer darts all over the place.
 
 It will dart off into the margin and just about the time that I click it has landed
 somewhere that I don't want it to be and will dump the game off page or pull up one of the short cuts that I use.
 It also does it when I am surfing the web or reading I/S but it is not as prevalent as it is on freecell.
 Can you tell me what the problem is and how to solve it?

do you use a laptop with a touch pad or is it a regular ball mouse, I know sometimes with my touch pad, I move the cursor around and start typing in the wrong spots... ???

 It is a Dell desktop and the mouse is the one with the( lazer light?)
 When it is doing it real bad the arrow seems to be quivering when you move it.
 I called Dell and "talked" to one of their "kimosabe" techs and he tried to tell me that it was a software problem related to freecell but it does it on other programs and also I have heard of other people having this problem on dell products.

Yeah tell me about...."supposedly" the reason she needed to use my laptop and took it to school with her is because I spent too much time on iceshanty....she wore the thong again the other day...at least I think she did.  It was in the dirty clothes hamper...

If you click on the start menu, choose settings, then control panel, it will open a window.  You should see an option for mouse.  This is the control panel for the mouse.  There are a couple options here that may be set wrong, check the mouse speed on the pointer options tab.  I don't know if this is the issue, I have known some toolbar progams that attach themselves to Internet Explorer that have similar pointer issue and I have seen defective mice do it too.

 I tried changing the settings i.e moving the speed up and down and running the troubleshooter but it hasn't fixed the problem.

do you have an old wired mouse kicking around?  if you do, turn off your computer, unplug the laser one and plug in the wired one and reboot.  If you still have the problem, it is more than likely a software issue, if its corrected then, it's the mouse.  There are also some Pointer Programs out there that install themselves that give the mouse different properties.

 The mouse connects to a port with a wire but instead of a ball on the bottom that shifts the pointer it has a red light that tracks it. Also is there some where that we can talk back and forth without taking up space on I/S?

I'm thinking that the mouse part has gone bad.  You can always send me a pm, then we can delete when we get it figured out...  It happenend to one my grandparents had..  or the chat room

It's called an optical mouse...doesn't use a mechanical roller...uses light instead to sense movement.  Much better in my opinion because it doesn't care about crumbs on your mouse pad!

 Hey Geek...
 Your right and LHM helped me figure out that it was a bad mouse..He was a great help to this old computer shy codger.
 This is just one of the reason that I/S is such a great site. People are very willing to help other people,a practice that I was taught by my parents...
