transducer cone formula
« on: Jan 18, 2016, 10:56 AM »
What is the diameter of the circle from a 20 degree transducer cone at 5 feet 10  feet, 15, 20?  What is the Math formula to figure it out?

Using Radius = Tan(20) times depth should work.  Tangent(20) = 0.364, so at 10ft, the radius would be 3.64ft and the diameter would be 7.28ft.  Hope this helps.

Tan20degrees=x/depth, x=radius, multiply the radius x2 to get the diameter. So, a 10' depth would be Tan20degrees(.394)=x/10, or x=3.64'. Your diameter would be about 7'3". LOL. Someone beat me to it while I was typing.

Shouldn't it be 10deg instead of 20? If beam 20deg wide this calc would give you diameter

I stand corrected.  It should be Tan(10).  Thanks for catching that!
