Cobbetts 12/23
« on: Dec 23, 2007, 01:20 PM »
Hit Cobbetts this morning with my brother and a friend of ours.  My bro got a Shappell DX4000 as an early X-mas gift and today's damp conditions gave us a perfect opportunity to break it in.

Conditions were tough to say the least.  Off the beach (south end) the parking lot wasn't plowed but we all have 4X4, so we were ok.  Getting around on the ice required wading through 6-8" of slush with a 2" crust of ice on top.  Broke through on every other step or so....not fun.

But the fishing was really good.  Basically a perch-fest with a couple nice largies (to 2.5 lbs) and some decent pics in the mix.  No trout, unfortunately.  Flags were fast and furious at times with lots of doubles and a few triples.  Running to the flags sure was a chore though!!!
