Best thing i remember as a kid was fishing with a friend and his dad would always start a small fire and we would cook Essem hot dogs on sticks and eat beans out of a can!!
I lived about a mile from the Essem hot dog factory as a kid…South Lawrence MA.All We had were Essems in those days. I know Demoulas/Market Basket used to carry them…
Yeah so you have been to lawtons hotdogs on the river ? MB sells there own brand I think its essem. Here we go back to hotdogs. Better than spot burning I guess.
Ahh mais oui! Law-tonnes by de canal…😂 good stuff right there! And Riley’s Roast Beef for a couple “big ones” with sauce n cheese…after a Celtics or Bruins game😛
Riley's was good... but I always preferred Kelly's on the beach more... Talk about a thread being hijacked.
When I was bringing the kids and their friends out - we'd always pack the grills and plan to cook breakfast sandwiches or other items, it was part of the fun of making a day of it outside.... and if the flags were slow, seemed like the best way to ensure the flags would start popping was to fire up the grill... never failed. As for spot burning - its a thing, hell people try to figure out locations simply based on picture backgrounds.Ice reports that get people hurt are a thing too, because people get lazy and assume ice somewhere means ice everywhere. Be Safe, happy New Year, and protect your spots and people... and have a great season.DennisP.S. Joe switch to PB&J - good even when frozen
I'm sure you had a dog or two at Lawtons..
As a youngin I used to ride my Shwinn down from Salem to fish the Mack for shad and schoolies. Always had a few bucks on my to grab a couple dogs at Lawtons. If I remember right, they deep fried them in lard. Mustard and onions, friggin tasty.
Those sound amazing! Rippers!
They were better than Flo's..
I have always found hot dogs to be the law of diminishing returns, after 2 each one after that is not very good
Never thought about that? I’d haveto say you are exactly right. Yet, I still haveto have a minimum of 3 each time. Mustard, onion, Celery salt are my go to. Up here the best dogs I can buy are the Kayem olde Tyne now. Maple leaf and Schonlands are pretty good. Anyone have any other favorites?
If you can find Nathan’s those are good….or sometimes the ones from the deli
I've PB&J Stories too!
