Imagine if the original question was just answered that was asked  ;D. Good entertainment anyhow. Always fun.

AA is right .   He asked question about  his new reel anchors.
His thread was lost as so many members had to offer personal opinions!!   I will look forward to Franks end of season evaluation.

I'll add my two cents:

I have them on two rods- a ML spinner and an UL inline. They do OK on the inline, but I'm not the biggest fan of the grip. And On the spinning rod? Almost lost the reel when a 36" pike decided to grab the crappie minnow- it was a rodeo. I've since had some trouble with trout pulling hard enough to lift the back of the reel off the handle. It's panic inducing, and lose focus for a bit. All in all- I like them for simplicity with panfish, but I wouldn't trust them for chasing walleye & pike.

So as an alternative- does anyone use self-fusing silicone tape? It's non-adhesive, so no residue, and it can be cranked down pretty well. Seems like a slightly more permanent solution than masking tape, and definitely moreso than bands, but can be undone without longterm consequences.

I remember hearing of someone using the silicone tape...but don't remember the results. Might have to look into that again.

See, now this, is what I’m looking for. I need to ask though, are they these EXACT same anchors?

I highly doubt it- the spinning setup is a Scheels Outfitter cheapy? And the UL inline is a 13 fishing rig- it's done better, but not exceptional. Side note- had the damn tip snap off of last year while fighting a trout. :%$#!: I was not happy, especially since it's my most expensive ice rod (or any rod, outside of my fly gear).

Found it. Might work.

After looking at the products a bit more, it looks like Clam has rebranded it as "Pro Wrap" and added a couple bucks to the price tag.

I’ve used the clam pro rap and for me….. it wrapped very tightly but I dint care for the thickness of it especially as I wrapped with it. I don’t use a lot or want a lot over my reels and onto the rod handle. Too much hinders sensitivity for me. 1” hockey tape has been better for me in that regard. I’ll wait and see how AA’s assessment of the green bands are at end of season. Those look pretty nifty and solid. Might end up going that route as well…

I think the clam pro wrap is over priced as well for what they actually send you.

I have used self adhesive silicone tape for years. The only time I don't use it is on rods with screw type rod seats. When removed it leaves no residue behind.

Me either and it ain't just because I'm only semi-literate. "I", "Me", cant imagine being so butthurt over something on a public forum. "I" find it exhausting to care that much.
