@ 63 I am still toting around a jiffy 3hp 10" but I did get a quad to help out...LOL
no doubt on the quad..mine starts great so I shut it off after each hole ..we usually have 36 holes plus but I finally have some help..I look at it as a work out..burns those booze and food calories I put in during the day..that auger is 20 years old and out in a new spark plug now and then..true fuel has really helped
when chuck norris played golf for money, chuck marked down a hole in zero every time, the golf pro said, "chuck: you can't score zero on a hole." Chuck norris turned towards the man and said, "I'm chuck norris, the man proceeded to pour gas over his body and set himself on fire because that would be less painful than getting roundhouse kicked by chuck norris....chuck norris roundhouse kicked him in the face anyways

I run a Trophy Strike 40volt, and it does the job very well. My fishing bud has the Strikemaster, and thats the best of the electrics I've seen. But all the talk of witch way is better???? Just keep them blades sharp, and they all work good....

Couple seasons back my bro and I bought a Nero 6 or 7" hand auger with the drill attachment. I had just purchased a Milwaukee Fuel 18v Hammer drill for the house and this setup didn't disappoint. We drilled close to 40 holes one day thru 20+" of ice and only used 1/2 a battery. Took about 10 seconds per hole. Crazy fast. Very happy with that combo.

Well, I guess I'll chime in...... For most of the season last year, I was sitting in more ice than I had fished in years.  I live my cordless drill but I prefer a 10" hole when the ice is real thick.  Big Lakers are just easier to land in a 10" hole with thick ice.  Maybe if I was looking for something smaller it wouldn't matter to me.

"Hope" is not a good fishing strategy!

I've used a 6 in auger for the last few years and I'm looking to upgrade to an 8. I landed this one and it filled every bit of the hole. I had bloody knuckles from they ice trying to get him up.

I just picked up the 8" from BassPro.
Had a $75 coupon and got a $50 gift card for spending over $500. Ended up costing me $425. Just need ice now.

I have my 10” in hand now too, waited until Deer season ended so I could collect all my pool money and buy it so it didn’t cost anything.

Hope to finish up a job today and give it a go tomorrow

I just had a chance to use my buddies Strikemaster 10" this morning. Wow, is all I have to say. Hands down , no questions asked better than my Ion! Not even close. This thing cuts like a beast , and just feels so much better.
The Ion is going bye bye in the next few days.  ;D

Nice fish Digs, I know what you mean about bloody knuckles.  This fish was taken a few years ago before I stepped up to a 10" auger.  I was using an 8"  when my wife landed this one.  No doubt it can be done with a smaller hole but I find it easier to land with a 10" hole when fishing thick ice

Thanks.....That's a monster too well done! It's definitely was easier. I'll probably be upgrading soon to a bigger one.

I've used this adapted for the past 2 years with a 6" eskimo hand auger and Ridged 18v brushless drill. I have 4ah and 5ah batteries for them and never have used an entire charge. I'd say this has to be the best budget friendly solution for a reliable power auger
