Man, I can't wait to get out there this year, I'm still fly fishing for salmon at the Pemi in Bristol, but the allure of the forming hardwater is as strong as ever.

Which reminds me, time to get that 2013 license!!!!

just came from the lake......i know where im fishing this weekend......2"-3" of good solid black ice..

1/4/2013

Made it out today. Right off Cummings Beach. 3.5" of solid clear ice. Got there around 1:30 and stayed til 4:30. Got a hit on the jig stick, but nothing on the tipup. Good to see beerhog, taint, guinea, houndog, and tippin2back. True diehards. Wish I had a picture of a fish to post, but no avail. We will hammer it tomorrow. Glad to finally have ice. The beach is tricky getting out. Better off to walk south a 100ft and then go out.

Looks Like alot of fun, My fishin buddy moved to colorado so I expect to be fishing solo alot this winter. I wouldn't mind checkin that out. Since you clearly stated newfound Im guessing its no secret. I troll newfound alot I cant believe the amount of rainbows in there. Hopin to get a nice one out of there through the ice.

No secret, big lake. Bring a Motorola and put on channel 5.5. Introduce yourself and enjoy the entertainment. You see a group of people make sure you introduce yourself, chances are they're circus people.

There was a guy at the foot of the lake; I stopped to talk with him, he hadn't caught anything. It was very windy...can you believe it?

how do you guys walk around on floppy clown shoes? looks like i'm going to need my shack. where do you guys get on?

hit the ice today at sunrise, and nothing to show for it..... $:-\$ ..
i was able to mark fish on my "showdown-troller", but couldnt get them to hit..
was in about 38 f.o.w. ...
saw gynni,troutfreak,beerhog,capt. black, out there, and saw gynni catch a laker.....and heard there was a nice rainbow caught too
laker-taker showed up, and we went and got his bob-house and put it on the beach, and set some tipups out there with him getting a flag, but nobody home..
bringing the porty tomorrow, and gonna nail em' tomorrow with buck-tail, and more of the circus......

1/5/13;

Met up with Taint, Maggot, and beerhog early to try our luck. We found about 25FOW and jigged in the brutal wind. I had a tipup in shallow. Taint lasted 45 minutes and then went home.

No flags or hits for 2 hours. Decided to switch spots after an ice chunk broke off from shore.

As we were moving, we hooked up with Capt Black and headed to the beach. Saw tippin, Guinea, and lawnguyjack and fished there for a while. I also used the new MarCum vs385c today. Wow! The picture was great! Maggot iced a 16" laker after a couple of misses (promptly punched him for that!). Saw guinea pull up a nice rainbow. Nice job Guinea! The wind was pretty fierce today for a change on Newfound

. No fish for me today.

Where is Cummings Beach? Is there much room there with the current ice conditions (i.e. is the ice good enough for people to spread out)? Feel free to PM.

I might head up that way tomorrow, maybe I'll meet up with some Circus folks and then move off to find my own area. Sounds like a fun time!

I've been sick for the last couple of days and havent been on the lake myself.

I did take a drive around the lake today.

Norh end, Sleepy Hollow had a few fishermen on it. Looked like it froze to the island but again I have no clue how thick the ice was.

Wellington gate was open so I could drive down to the boat launch. Had to use four x four as it wasnt plowed. The new docks are stacked to the left of the launch and there was a skim coat of ice. The waves were moving it, nothing safe to stand on.

It appeared the lake has caught to the mid way point of Mayhew Island but again, no clue how thick. It looked like the waves were moving it.

From Cummings beach south to the foot of the lake looked to be ok, I heard there was an open spot yesterday between the Mayhew and Cummings from the wind so I'd be careful in that area.

Reports were 3" of black ice but again, I wasnt out there so check it as you go.

Saw someone trying to get on at Pikes cove but returned back to shore. I didnt ask why, figured it was too thin.

CH and I will be out there tomorrow, she needs to get on the board. She's been dying. Hopefully I can make her dreams come true.......

The boy and I stopped by to say hi to the crew today. It was nice seeing Guinea again, nice rainbow btw! Also finally met Captain Black, NH Trout Freak and Maggot, nice to meet you guys. No fishing for me today, I'm tryna finish up my shack! Maybe hitthe beach early part of next week. If any circus members local have any of the following they would like to part with I would really appreciate it. Funds are running real low.
(6)hex head lag bolts (2-4"long, 1/8"ish diameter)
(4) hex head lag bolts (1-3" long 1/8"ish diameter)
approx 1/3 gallon black paint
door latch for lock.
