Got to the lake later than I hoped. There were quite a few folks out today. First time seeing this many this season. Laker Taker decided to pull the portable out today although we really didn't need it. I don't think he'll be doing that again any time soon. Alittle bit of snow on the ice makes dragging the house a bit heavier.

We saw some very aggressive lakers on the camera today. We could of had doubles today a one point but we both missed em. Without missing a beat, punched each other. Laker Taker ended up with 3 bringing his total up to 6 for the season (Lakers). I ended up with one avoiding a skunk for the day. A few flags with chewed bait as well.

I'm now adding the captions to the pics.

I can't wait to get up there, hopefully this weekend I'll be able to make it up for the first time. It's been too long since I've seen a fish, I'm going crazy.

01/08/2012

Today we came alittle more prepared than yesterday in terms of hauling our gear. We brought our snowmobile and atv with us and were able to get to virgin ice fishing grounds. Took a while in the morning getting to our spot but it turned out there is 8" of ice throughout.
Had what felt like a nice one on first thing this morning and lost it on a tip up with a redfin shiner. Several other flags in the morning as well, all on redfins. Yesterday it was smelt they wanted.
Then Slimey showed up and everything shut down. (kidding.....). Fished in 35 fow and visibility with the camera was pretty good when the sun came out although we didn't see any lakers. Snowed most of the day but didn't amount to more than a dusting.
Later in the day Slimey found a dead deer carcass. Bones picked clean and fairly fresh as there was still a pool of blood on the ice. I was gonna post pics of this but decided against it. There in my photo bucket account.

Anyways back to fishing.....Laker Taker managed to get one today. I got none, lost one and got a few flags in the am. Still trying for the big one. Slimey had a few flags but nobody home.

Hey Sully! Must of been on Sat., Laker Taker drove on Sunday. We usually switch on and off driving.

You should of stopped over for a visit....purple portable.

I know what you mean about the freight train......those lakers tend to fight pretty good. That's too bad but will still be there to fight another day!

nice to c u again tippin i also had crappie luck on sun really slow going was able to land some perch and the elousive crappie was glad to see crappie was in there begining to wonder good job circus

Might have to take the Newfound Circus on the road this year!

drove by today!....more ice is being added little by little......the lake is open through the channel,....from there into the bay........locked up through the west side but not anything you can stand on.....snow and wind will take that away this weekend....from cummings south it looks pretty solid....but 1/2 way down towards the river....it opens up.....in front of the town beach looks really thin...it was open a few days ago......infront of newfy's looks great!!...im sure hes got a better report from over there!!...also saw guinea in the parking lot of cummings.....she said she was making phone calls...but i think i swa a little tear in her eye about the conditions.....or maybe she new my daily rutine...(spelling),,,,and i caught her stalking me....

there was 5" in front on me. I fished Sat. morning with 2 tip-ups. Kids wanted to sleep. I only ventured out to 5' deep. I had 4 holes from 18" to 5' deep. I didn't want to go out to the drop off. I've not checked the ice since Sunday morning. Thinking about a trip tomorrow to My place or to Alton bay boat launch for tomorrow. I'd recommend salmon eggs on bottom if along the south end of Newfy. I had small shiners and smelt and they were still bite and drop, but the eggs were gone.
