Dear Diary by JIGGIN

12/11/2009

Tonight Fishog and I checked the lake(s). 3" of solid snow ice but enough to get my fat arse out on 6 ft of water. Unfortunately I cant make it out tomorrow morning however will be on the ice Sunday early. Going for rainbows and brookies.

Love first ice. Finally walked on hard water, instant high. Most likely not going to be able to sleep tonight. My season is about to start.

Pop's Cove is growing ice, but Ginger still thinks it's bath water on the other side of it.  Crazy Chessie!

Laker Taker ended up with 2 rainbows and missed 2 and I with only 1 and lost my first one. Too excited I guess. Pre-mature-e-jerk-u-lation.

Nice day, no winds and 2" of black ice. Didn't go to the lake where we thought we were going, but not far. No browns.

Hit on redfin shiners 2 - 5 ft down.

Met a guy that came by to visit and it turned out he was there when we pulled up an auger through the ice about 10-12 years ago in Newfound. Had a good laugh, small world.

JIGGIN.

My 1st rainbow of 2010 season

Laker Taker's 1st rainbow of 2010 season. Photo time was wrong.

Laker Taker's 2nd rainbow of the 2010 season

i found ice finally only 2 hours from home but unfortunatly we landed squat did have 3 flags not sure the bait didn't have something to do with them though ..met some locals out on the pond and was informed that ot does infact hold a few browns and brookies but we have yet to confirm any of this information !!!still on the case !! all i need is some rock solid evidence and to the jury we go !!! ;D

Good Lookin Trout Jiggin/LT  ;) Glad to see you guys got out ;)

Took a ride today just to check conditions and found most lakes to be skimmed over with about a 1/2" but nothing safe in the area...
Gonna head farther north later on in the week and try to get out. ;)

I'm at the lake today..  Warm out, so any ice is now gone.  However with this cold coming the rest of the week the ice should start to set if it stays somewhat calm.
I'll make a prediction that everyone will be able to put their shacks out off Cummings Dec. 27th.

12/15/2009

Fishog convinced me that today would be a good day to take off from work. He was right (but I say that only to myself). We had countless flags and ended up with 4 rainbows. We lost quite a few (had to tweak a couple of tip ups). Basically, we each had a hole that would produce while the others would get a hit and run. I was able to get 5 tip ups out and Fishog got 4.
Weather was still, cloudy, warm 32F and lots of water and slush on top of 2" of ice. The black ice I was hoping to get on is now thinner than this past weekend.
All were caught on red fin shiners.

Had bear sausage and deer steaks for breakfast and lunch. Some potato salad too.

Need to get some cold weather so I can venture further out. Would like to get some Browns.

Good call today Fishog.
JIGGIN.

Just set up.

My 1st bow of the day.

My 2nd.

Fishog's 1st of the season.

Fishog's 2nd.
