Were you at River Road or up above? I fished the Bay with a buddy yesterday mid-day and we got 103. Cold fishing outside and a long walk but a good time. Good news on the river giving some up.

Yep, we fished among the thirty or so shacks over there. It will be hard going without a snowmobile after this, until another trail is packed down.

Gonna try to hit the Squamscott today.. Everyone at work is either out or bailing early.. Might do the same and head to the river..

Hope its better than my trip that I made to Maine Sat. night. Me and a buddy pulled an all night-er from 5pm till 6 am.. probably averaged 1 smelt every 20 minutes.. including a lot of dry-spell time. Took home about 40 each.. Coulda been worse, even in the 17 below AM cold..

Where did you go, Rob? We did excellent at James' Eddy Sunday on the outgoing; 692 fish for four people. You weren't using the "house lines", were you?

Obviously I didnt go where you went.,, *pout*.. I'm jealous..

Went to a buddy's shack up river from Worthings next to a local boat ramp. What really suxxed was the holes kept filling with ice chunks. I heard that it was ice coming down the river from a fresh water lake that was up-river. What a pain..

Sould be real nasty down there Exeter 4-5 inches of snow followed by heavy mix to heavy rain and thats on top of four or five storms worth of snow that never even thought of melting. Raymond 7-11 was quite flooded.Would think local ponds junk.

I went to the Squamscott yesterday from 1:30 till 5'ish. Not a bite. Spoke with others that were out there and nothing.

Also spoke with the Fish & Game interns who were doing their annual surveys. According to the girl they have been out quite a bit and have not heard any good reports in over 2 weeks...

Was thinking about going again Sat but not sure at this point with all the bad reports... A buddy of mine wants to go to the bay but I have never fished it before..

Where all da smelt  ??? ???

Da Bay. Park at Thomas' place and when you hit the ice turn left and walk or snowmobile about a mile to the large cluster of shacks. Try to get there at least three hours before high tide; ideally you'll churn mud with your auger and within an hour the ice will lift and fishies swim by! ;D
PM or email me if you want directions to Thomas' place.

You guys that are drilling holes on the bay with augers had better be carefull you dont land your blades on a oyster bed, that could be tasty or a disaster.

and you might want to rinse your auger off or it will get real rusty quick

Marshindian has it right. Three hours before the high but make the effort to walk out to the group of shelters way off to the left by the golf course. Tried the closer shanty towns and got zippo. Caught 80 last week by the golf course. They were cruising by in 14 inches of water. Weird being so shallow but theres a reason the shanty town is there. Lotsa fishies!

I'm also going to give River Rd another try on Sat as the access getting on/off the ice (at least at lower tide) is easy. Been caught a couple of getting off the ice when the tide was still up and it can be very slippery and under water...

I have a 2 man clam 5600 and my usual fishing buddy can't make it, so if anyone is interested in joining me let me know.

As many as you can fit in your trousers, Huddla huddla.   ;D

do you have a saltwater digest handy ?
a 10 quart limit has been mentioned,
my guess is that's less than a 5 gallon pailfull.
not sure trousers are  legitimate measure  :D ;D

10 Quarts liquid measure which is less than a 5 gallon bucket. Around 15 lbs. The old metal calmming buckets were 10 quarts, wish I still had one of those.
