I'm getting tired of buying 1.lb propane tanks everyday. It would be SOO much cheaper to be able to use a 40lb tank.
Is this possible???

Yes, but use it where is a 20 pound tank of it instead of 40

Get the buddy heater filter though to use with the hose. It will act as a regulator.

They sell a adapter for a 20# tank,i think mine has a 8Ft hose.

Yes, it works on a 20lb tank. I ran mine that way in the garage a few weeks ago. I got a tee and two hoses, I use them camping to run a lantern and grill at the same time off a 20lb tank.
Important: When you use a hose turn the valve on the tank off and allow the heater/grill/lantern to run out, then turn the heater off. The hose will retain a lot of gas. When camping my lantern will run for 5-10 minutes after the tank valve is closed. Likewise it will take a while to get enough gas to the device before it will lite.

I just put a stut off valve in my 12 foot hose next to the tank.Lights right away every time now.

I have heard people say a filter is good to have, a regulator wouldn't be a bad idea. I have neither. All I use is one of these, large tank connector and small side for heater.

go to their website.....contact their customer service with all your questions......THEY will tell you what to use and WHY!!! I've noticed there is an awful lot of misinformation on here, and it you want your purchase to last a long time.......listen to CS not the stuff on here!!!

The green hose would work but I would recommend an 8ft black buddy hose with a regulator, it will cost a little bit more but it will be worth the extra cash.

The regulator controls the flow of gas and the filter removes particulate to prevent blockage.

The reason for either the filter or the regulator for the Buddy Heater is that the bulk tank fitting on the back doesn't have a regulator of any kind.
So, you can either purchase the regulator or filter to get away from the pluggage issue. There were "many" complaints about the heater getting gummed up.
Or, just do what walleyes said earlier and turn off the gas flow from the tank, and empty the hose everytime before you leave.
Not sure if the pluggage issue is still a problem or not, but better safe than sorry...unless you want to be guinea pig and report back.

Use a filter with the bulk tank if you run the old hoses. The old hoses secrete an oily substance that clogs the heater. Mr. Heater has a new hose that you can use without a filter. Here it is:

The Little Buddy has a built in regulator. A regulator is not necessary. Buy the new hose and a filter is not necessary. Call CS to confirm.

I use a 5 lb bottle. It is heavy enough thank you. On a well insulated permy a 40# tank should last all season. :icefish:
