Theres a few people headed out next weekend, foot traffic for right now, I bet its safe for the most part been below zero making ice everyday now, always remember to respect the fish and catch and release lakers, keep hands away from the gills much as you can! the lake seems to get more pressure every year! good luck to all and be safe!

I heard a report that someone went through the ice last weekend with a snowmachine.  I heard that he is alright though.  Be safe everyone.

There was 7-9 where we were at but I don’t know how the main lake is.  It froze real weird this year so I’d be a little hesitant about shooting across the main lake right now.  There was about 3-4 inches of snow on the ice.  Had fun fishing with you Bushwackjack I’m always happy to see new friends catch fish.

[/quote We ran into a bunch of overflow last weekend so watch out.  There was 10-12 inches of ice with about 6 inches of snow.

Got buried on Lake Louise Road today, I hope it's plowed tomorrow.  Lots of new snow bringing lots of new overflow.

Well the good news about the overflow is there won’t be any trucks or wheelers on the lake this year.  My buddy got back from his property last night and said he encountered several good sized patches of overflow and Susitna had some drifts on it but with the new snow it’s all been covered up.  He said they got like 14 inches of snow.

I was at the lake for a few days and its not as bad as I thought it was going to be.  It was bad around the shack due to prior holes, defiantly wet and keeping the kids dry was a lost cause.  I'M sure it will get worse, with 20'' of snow on 12" of ice and warm temps hanging in.

There’s pretty much overflow everywhere and the trail has a few ripped up spots from where people got stuck then it refroze so be careful going down the trail.  If you get off trail just make sure you are going fast enough to stay on top and don’t stop.  I guess the lodge is doing a dinner New Year’s Eve so if anyone wants to attend you need to call the lodge and make a reservation so they have enough food.  Fillet minion and prawns for dinner.

Over flow has firmed up nicely in many places but it is still around, there is also some really tore up places from the refreeze so stay vigilant.

Well apparently the Russians made an apperence this winter already.  I got a report that they were squatting in someone’s cabin and used all their supplies and fuel and generally trashed the place.  They avoided the troopers so if anyone sees any suspicious activity to call the troopers ASAP.  They tend to be armed so don’t take matters into your own hands please.

The trail from the Susitna head to Cliff Bay is over flowed bad, it is really torn up  from re freeze too.  Each side of the trail has heavy overflow and the trail is a mess.

Yup, if you get off the trail its a mess and parts of the trail are still overflow.  On a side note, some one lost an auger out of their tote sled.  Its at the lodge if the person who lost it has not picked it up yet.

There's also an auger bit someone let freeze in the lake and pulled the power head off in Larson Bay, it could really ruin someone's day.  Dont drill your augers in as a stand boys, it's no good.

Ha that’s funny I always laugh when I see people doing that.  I might have to go salvage it if it’s a 10 inch Eskimo bit.  I also think it’s funny that no one carry’s an ax or a chisel.

Is anyone going to be out at the Lake for the Poker Run next weekend? I am guessing there is a good amount of snow on the lake this year.

I haven't been out to the lake or my property once this winter, been too busy with work and life. Me and a buddy did build an 8x10 hard side shack we will be bringing out for its Maiden Voyage :)

There is lots of snow and the overflow is starting to come around again.  If you bring your bring your shack up make sure you pack down a good trail and let it setup overnight.  I useally give it a couple weekends of packing down my trail before I move my shack.  There’s nothing worse than getting a shack stuck in deep snow and overflow.

Oh and when you do move your shack try to do it in the morning when the trail is hard, it will be easier to drag and you won’t risk tearing up the trail.

Thanks for the advice! We plan on getting there pretty early in the morning. We will definitely go scout our location prior to pulling it. I am hoping there isn't much overflow in the area. We have been lucky around our area the last couple years regarding overflow.
