Jigs/spoons for brookies
« on: Nov 02, 2016, 09:30 AM »
Gearing up for another season and wondering what other people use for brookies.  I fish stocked brookie lakes that don't get a lot of traffic.  I typically use pink/silver spoons, rattle buckshots and glow jigs.  Anything else amazing out there I should try?  I was doing some reading and was thinking of trying to separate the hook from the spoon by a bit of line or chain, and then tip it with a worm.  Anyone do this?

Using a dropper off a silver, copper or gold spoon will work. I usually just take the hook off the spoon, add 8 - 10 inch drop line & attach a pink or green glow Rat Fink. Decent setup for trout & salmon. Good luck to ya !!

Would you use a swivel between the drop line and the spoon?  I've never tried that, would be worth trying I think.  Sometimes I find the brookies will come up and hit the bait, but don't actually take it.
