Title: River pike
Post by: Fishteeth on Dec 23, 2016, 05:17 AM
Can anyone offer advice about icefishing for pike in a river? I will be fishing in a very slow moving section above a dam. Should I look behind islands, in coves, nears feeder tributaries? There's monsters in there I just don't know where to start. The plan was to look for drop offs between weedy flats and the main river

Pike are very predatory,  I believe in river systems you have some of your best luck on the inside of points, maybe need feeder streams, and on the saddles between the island and shore.  Pretty much anywhere that you think bait fish will get trapped or concentrated.
