don't put it in the water?

I don't know, never got mine wet so far. I put it off to the side when I'm done drilling. It might get a little splash on it, maybe some snow or drizzle but I never had a problem... yet.

2 manayrds bags one inside the other. put the chuck in one handle, twist it to make that hole smaller, bring the rest up and over the drill body and back down and use the 2nd handle to go over the aux handle but give it a few twists too. make a partial hole to leave it standing on the ice or set it in the sled when not in use.

waiting for a company to make neoprene ones with velcro covers for us.

not sure what the hold up is. some would make some cash on that idea.

I think it is about cooling the units, neoprene is a great insulator...

How would that be an issue when the drill is just sitting there?  Surely your not thinking that any air cooled motor (gas or electric)  should  be used with the cover on?
take care,

I'm on my 4th year with the same drill. Just use a little common sense - I always put the blade guard back on( I have walked into it or brushed it to many times) and then place it in or across my sled. If its snowing or raining it comes in the shack with me. Battery maintenance is also important  Now if I only had some ice to drill.

I am afraid I was not clear, I don't think they will offer a cover (like neoprene) for a drill because people will run it with the cover on and over heat the drill... If you want a neoprene cover that you will not use when running the drill, just pick up a neoprene laptop cover, it should even zip most of the way around the drill... I will just carry a few plastic bags if I need them, like the 2.5 gal. zip-locks I always have in my sled.

I don't. My Makita brushless LXT doesn't seem to mind a little wetness. I used to frame 14ga steel with my Makita impactor outside in the rain and no problems.
