1-29 mixed bag marathon
« on: Jan 30, 2011, 06:32 AM »
Had a marathon run yesterday for a mixed bag.

Up and out the door by 4am only do finally make it to the interstate to find a rolling road block of salt trucks.  Followed them for almost 20 miles without being able to get by. Finally my exit came!

Set up and the flags/jig hits started coming but with great lulls in between.

We managed some decent Smallies and Bows to highlight the trip.

Later in the morning Bows were centered in the crosshairs and over 1/4 mile of shoreline were covered with traps only to have 3 w/in 100 yards of e/o producing.

Got a really nice 15" fatty only to have it cough up a damn Senko and then lost all of it's girth to make it look more like a pickerel than a bow.

Lost count on the # of fish landed on the day.

This trout burped up the Senko the stomach came right up with it. That is the only reason why we kept it.  :'(

sick day.  well done.  i've pulled huge senkos out of trout mouths myself.  i had no idea what it was as i was unhooking and out came the gross semi digested senko.  most amazing was that the trout was still feeding.
if the trout are lost, smash the state.

Great array of fish, something for everyone, nice job DD.

As for the Senko, many States are working to ban the use of rubber baits.

"Ban the use of plastics",.............. like that will happen.
How about teach people that they can catch just as many fish not wacky rigging a senko. and teach people to not throw their used plastics into the water because they don't decompose.

Great idea, but I think the solution will be, manufactures will be making a bio degradable plastic bait. Many bait makers are working on that for the future.

You had to be there to believe it. So much excitement, so much tension, sooooooooooooooo much competition. Hard to believe a grown man would take the line right out of your hand while you're trying to land a trophy white pearch. I've fished a lot of years and it's been a long time since I've seen so much healthy action.  Pan fish to trout. There was something for everyone. Just asking -do as ya wish, your right. Good looking smallies, nice colors. I release all my gamefish if possible, panfish are just that, for the pan or deep fryer. Nice haul guys.
