So the trout fishing was very slow for us on Indian Lake yesterday, of course there were a bunch of bozos arriving all morning drilling holes, making, noise and racing sleds all around the area we were fishing
so we packed up and moved
got in to some avg size perch 7-8 inchers,, no sooner drop that hali after marking a few larger fish
those perch were hungry they were hammering it on the fall 3-4 ft off bottom
with in 2 min of landing a perch the smelt were everywhere the bottom 10ft was all red on the vex!
guess what no more perch?
so with that long boring prelude aside, why cant the smelt and perchies just get along?
smelt are good bait and tasty once in a while but after ya catch 8 or 9 dozen it gets old
I tried changing up to jigheads with minnows etc, mealworms (stuff to big for the smelt)
the perch just go away...
for those of you who know Indian Lake NY (yay NY) I fished the long narrow bay off Moose Island and a good part of johnny mack bay.. I drilled so many holes I emptied the 3H Jiffy tank and had to go back for more(that thing is heavy)
how to find perch and hide from smelt.. any one?
