you guyz have some serious cold going on, but how much ICE you guys drilling through? just curious! we have 5 degrees here in southern maine at 645pm, with -15 wind chill. cold enough for me!

yep i was there right along side of you skipper ..
my sewer froze up so i'm hoping it warms up realy fast..
had a high of a whopping 2 above.

We drilled through over 24" last thursday night- I am assuming after this past cold snap, its 2 and 1/2 feet now, if not more.

Sorry Skipper don't have to any more. One of my jobs was with the USFS, survey crew. Snowshoes, 3miles of lake to cross with -40 temps and 5miles of posts to pound. Very memorable day....... stay warm!

Long story short, I do a recycling route. It seems that I spend way more time out of the truck than I do in it! As long as the wind isn't blowing, the cold doesn't bother me much. When I ran on Saturday morning it was only -12 below, but I almost died

because of the wind. Monday was -20, but I thought it was much more comfortable because it was dead still. The worst part is over I hope! I leave on my route at 5 A.M., that is usually as cold as it gets all day!

I have decided to stay off of the ice until it warms up a bit. Not because I am afraid of the cold, but because I don't want to get sick. I figure doing ten to twelve hour days a in this crap will run me down and we all know it is flu season. I am going nuts sitting in the house though!!!!!

I used to be a Schwans Man. It doesn't get as cold in Kansas City (where I worked for Schwans) as it does here, but 30 degrees and freezing rain, then sticking half of your body into a truck box that -30, wasn't too much fun, NOW THAT was cold!!

I will take dry and sub zero over wet and 30s anyday. The coldest I have been in my whole life was working in a Texas "winter storm". I was in San Antonio and it was around 35 degrees, misty wet, and the wind was enough to knock you over. I was chilled right to the core. Ish!

I remember! Painful memories of watching TV in my coveralls and sleeping with 15 blankets! I dont miss that trailer house one bit!!!

Good times, had to use the extentons on the auger that winter!

She was a tough one, it was the first winter I was out of Ma and Pa's nest. I budgeted money for the gas bill, but it was only enough to cover 25% of it

The snow was more than average, but I don't remember it being too awful bad

That may have been the winter that south western Minnesota got the 12'' snow drifts.

I miss the snow, I remember going to feed the pigs and the snow was so deep I could barely walk in it.

I remember seeing drifts over 10 foot. Just can't remember exactly what winter it was, but I think it was 97-98

I was watching the weather channel and the way the jet stream is running, it looks like another week..... a very gradual warm-up.
With this cold I keep kicking myself for not putting out my hardside, not very big but much warmer than my portable. Crazy weather in Dec and Jan.... couldn't decide with the ice conditions as they were.
Oh well, spending a few days cleaning up the gear, gotta get ready for the last run of the walleye season, then the pannies and perch, also a few more trips to LOW for more walleye and sauger.
Lots of season left...........

If we get much more ice it will be time for the extension to come out the other day I wasnt sure if I was going to make it through the ice that there was... So hopefully we dont get to much more!!
