Minnesota Goatboys
« on: Nov 17, 2009, 03:46 PM »
So...is there a Minnesota chapter of the Goatboys? I was reading some of the Goatboy posts (out of curiosity) and it seems as though the qualifications to be a "Goatboy" are as follows
1) Must LOVE Ice Fishing
2) Must Have Respect For Fellow Fisherpeople
3) A Passion For Cold Beer Is A Plus (not required for those recovering alcoholics out there)

If there is a MN chapter let me know when the next outing is...if not let's get one fired up and show those WI boys how to do it!
BWAHAHAHA We'll have Favre and the best Goatboy club in the midwest! lol

If I'm not fishing or hunting right now, you can bet that I\'m thinking about it!

We cant rip off the cheeseheads idea! There is only one WI Goatboys! The Michiganders have their MIRC too, they loooove those dirty water rats.

You guys have to come up with your own idea, something worthy of the icefishing motherland. ;D

I was thinking that we needed a new "team mn" banner, this may be the time to shake things up.

Skipper is should be centered on Eelpout.... the best eating fish in Minnesota!  There is already one of the biggest ice tournaments centered on this fine MINNESOTA Fish... that has everything a goatboys like, plus its a lot tastier  than a Rockbass!  as well as better looking.  I think HardIce is right you should organize a Iceshanty get together at Eelpout fest.

I would love to have an Iceshanty presence at the big events here in MN. We are growing by leaps and bounds every year, but we still have a very limited budget to work with. If I had to guess, I would say we will be all over this stuff in the years to come. We just started the NY/MN ice fishing shows and the shwano lake derby in WI last year. Give us time!

Hmmmm, Pout....

Pout Blitzkrieg Association?

MN Pout Slime Fanclub.

Gentilemans Eelie Pout admiration society or Minnesota.

I don't know about motherland, but if I was a praying man, MN would be my Mecca!  I'd kneel on my carpet & face to the NW!!! (that's the direction you all are from me!)

I do enjoy all your MN posts & would love to make a trip up there for one of your outings some year.  That is if you don't mind a FIP tagging along.  Hey, I hate the Packers as much as you guys do!  I'm not sure, but our anual trip we do to the Leech Lake area with Bro may be around the same time as pout fest this year.

How about the Minnesota Slime Buckets?  I'm sad to say that I've never caught an eel pout or at least I think I'm sad to say that  :-\  But I have definately caught some pikey-poo's and they are slimey! If we were the Slime Buckets our motto could be "more slime than you can shake a cheese head at" or "it ain't beer if there isn't a little fish slime in it" lol just some ideas....

If I'm not fishing or hunting right now, you can bet that I\'m thinking about it!

Some of us could qualify for both.  I grew up in WI and have moved to MN for a job.  Does that mean I could be a slime-bucket and a Goat Boy?

I don't know...if you had moved from ND, SD, or IA I think it would be ok but I think you might have to pick sides between MN and WI! lol or you could be our mole and steal their super secret tricks  ::)

120x300 pixels is about the size of the one we have already. We should keep them around that size to save the poor suckers still using dialup internet.

Minnesota Slime Consortium.

We get the pout and pike covered; it sounds somewhat official too.

If we call it the Minnesota Slime Consortium International, we may be able to get federal grants. ;D

If you guys get a few you like, I can set a poll so you can vote on it.

How about Minnesota Lakemaids.... after Schell's Lakemaid beer!  Miss Walleye could be our mascot.

How about Minnesota Lutefiskers .... after all  you Norske/Svens

MSC does sound "dignified" ::) till people know what it stands for. Plus it covers all fish because being a crappie guy myself I don't want to exclude them. We could also be the Minnesota Slime Collaboration, or the Minnesota Fish Slime Collectors, or Ultimate Minnesota Fish Catchers (UmFC) we could see if maybe Brock Lesnar would be a part of the group  ;)

They have the Goatgirls, we can be The Pigs.  It's short, so it's easy to say after you've had a few Lakemaids or Pig's Eyes and it fits easily on a banner.  If you want to go the history route, St Paul was originally called Pigs Eye, so we've got that, too.

Besides, pigs are easily the smartest animals on the farm.  Have you ever tried to play chess with a goat or a cow?  I don't think so.

Ok I'm totally going to be that guy but I came up with a name or at least a product that we should all be proud to name ourselves after and it's a MN product....HAMM'S BEER!! It's a long time kick a$$ product made here in St. Paul...plus it's sold in a 30 pack! we could be the Hamm's of MN or the MN Hamm's or something like that!...Who's comin' with me?!?!
From the Land of Sky Blue Waters,
From the land of pines' lofty balsams,
Comes the beer refreshing,
Hamm's the beer refreshing.

Brewed where nature works her wonders,
Aged for many moons, gently mellowed,
Hamm's the beer refreshing,
Hamm's the beer refreshing.

From across the rippling water,
Through the whisp'ring pines and birches,
Comes the beer refreshing,
Hamm's the beer refreshing.

Comes a call to cool enchantment,
Comes a call to cool refreshment,
Hamm's the beer refreshing,
Hamm's the beer refreshing.

Hints of lakes and sunset breezes,
Dance and sparkle in each glassful,
Hamm's the beer refreshing,
Hamm's the beer refreshing.

If I'm not fishing or hunting right now, you can bet that I\'m thinking about it!

I reject the lutefiskers outright. There is nothing dignified about translucent fish jell-o, and my ancestors all came from Germany and Holland.

Frozen Fingers Fight Club.

As far as beer goes, you might end up with a trademark issue someday if you want to get t-shirts made.
