Go into your profiles and add your location! It is much easier to spot eachother out on the main boards. :)

So, has anyone been getting out with the nicer weather?  The conditions on the lakes up North are getting much better.  Finally the slush seem to be resolving on most lakes.  Still a lot of bad spots but for the most part it is getting better.

Gods country! What do you fish up there?

Things are a little quiet around here now, but wait for December! Check out www.myfishfinder.com (http://www.myfishfinder.com) it is Iceshanty's open water sister site. I'm getting a little lonely on the MN section, so drop in and say HI!

where exactly is Milaca Mn. located at? what lakes are in the area you are at? what fish do you target in that area?   thanks.

Post by: Skipper on Nov 14, 2009, 08:05 PM
Milaca is very near Mille Lacs Lake in central MN, we are about 15 min south of the lake on US 169 to be exact. There are some small crappie holes in the neighborhood too. I love to fish the brainerd lakes, and the stuff to the NW of Mille Lacs in Crow Wing and Aitkin counties. I fish for pretty much anything that swims, but panfish are my winter favorites. Crappies, blue gill, and perch are my most targeted fish.

I'm Jason and I live in Bloomington which is just south of Minneapolis...I hate it here because there are only small over pressured fish! All I wanna do is catch big crappies once in a while.  :-\

In Fillmore County, south of Rochester. I believe Fillmore County is the only county in the state without any lakes... How's that for luck?
Title: Re: What part of MN
Post by: Spud_bar on Nov 19, 2009, 11:09 AM
according to :http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olmsted_County,_Minnesota there are 4 counties without lakes. bummer man. I know rock county in the other south corner of the state is cursed by not having any lakes too.
Title: Re: What part of MN
Post by: bullheadlodge on Nov 19, 2009, 11:45 AM
I used to live out that way, in Round Lake (Nobles County). I thought Rock Co. had some lakes in the state parks out (Blue Mounds and Split Rock Creek) that way, could be wrong on that though. Probably not big enough to officially call lakes?

I guess where I live now is alright for summer fishing, got a trout stream right past my driveway. But that doesn't do much for my icefishing needs.

Chisago Lakes area here.  Hope the fishing is good this winter.  The crazy Scandinavians are already out there.  Us Scandinavians who value our warmth are letting the ice get a little thicker first, or at least until its been frozen for more than 48 hours. LOL  ;D

Hey Scott,
Pat from Lakeville. Congrats on your season!. Been on Green lake in Princeton had fair luck funny thing is I fished with my bro that day and 15 feet apart using the same lure and bait he had the better smelling fingers of the day. Bite has been slow in the metro area Peltier I had to work hard to get bites bnut with light action and small baits you may get dinner. Prior is the same lots of holes and lots of work. Waconia I just can't figure out if the bite is minnow or plastics. Sitting still will only bore you hole hoping is the ticket, thank God that gas is cheap. Scott if you are ever in the area you have a open invite on any lake to get together.
Merry Christmas everyone and hope Santa stuffs your socks with jigs and bobbers!!!
Pat
