Iceman and DeadEyes! Woo Hoo! it's nice to see some fish in buckets! Glad you each had a safe and successful trip out and back. Bet it was glad to get your feet on the ice again and back on solid ground again too.
It's not just ice fishing, it's an adventure! Hopin' it gets cold again for you guys, be safe.
Fun stuff, I miss it...
Send pictures, lmao ><{{{*> ><{{{*> ><{{{*> ><{{{*> ><{{{{{*> ><{{{{{*> ><">
That’s exactly right dug. I also enjoy the adventure and camaraderie with some good friends as much as the actual fishing

Thanks guys. Be nice if that wind stays at a minimum the next handful of day to maybe leave a little bit of a base for next weeks cold to build off 🤞……time will tell

Not Oneida lake but Shane sent me this picture of K.C.  He caught this walleye on a pink worm in the school house pool on salmon river. Thought it was pretty cool!

That’s an odd catch for that far up river…

Freddie, how many times has this happened in your years on the river?

With the present weather pattern we’re having… that ice on our lake is going to turn to crap quick. It wasn’t great to start with… Please use your best judgement and don’t take chances. Ol man winter will flip the switch again I’m sure!! Stay safe!!😎

even if you  found  good ice  it  can  go bad   right under your feet  ...stay safe  ....no  fish is worth it

Absolutely had to get off Canandaigua 2 years ago and not an hour after we got off where we were at was open water

Same here , was fishing off sylvan beach , was on solid ice , checked a couple times ice ok, had 2 guys fishing with me one said your spud is melting in around 2:00 I took it and drove it through 9”s of black  ice which started to have that grayish look with 1 strike right through
I picked our way in single file can’t believe I didn’t drop in , yes the old pucker was in full tightness , never so glad to be on shore lol, 1/4 mile is long way back on questionable ice
Ask HT how much fun that was 🤪

Couple more
DEVILS LAKE, N.D. (Valley News Live) - Several people were rescued from the ice on Devils Lake on Monday after two vehicles broke through. Ramsey County Sheriff Bryan Lang tells Valley News Live the two separate incidents took place before 7:30 a.m. on January 22.

Let me say I was quite surprised when I caught that walleye. There were about 6 guys around me, mostly walleye fishermen from the Oneida area. They all went nuts. Had more pics taken of that walleye than any steelhead I ever caught. The stats on this walleye. 27 1/2", 17" girth and weighed 9.28 lbs. And it was quite tasty.

You need to wear your ice spikes all the time. I slipped on the ice back in 2018 and fractured my elbow. of course my creepers were in my sled not on my feet.
I always where microspikes now.

KC that is a great looking walleye, very dark and sort of knarly looking.  Congratulations!  It made me wonder why walleye don't show up more often in the Salmon River.  They are abundant in the Oswego River in the Spring (and other times present).  I don't know if they are successful in spawning in the Oswego River as they can't get past the first dam.  Why isn't the Salmon River an ideal spawning site for walleye?  Anyone?

Real heavy for its length Freddie I have caught numerous walleyes 24"+ that are usually 3-6 lb range..that's an absolutely beautiful fish
