Well some dude managed to find a way on off the beach. Hope he limits out…. and gets off. I’m feeling optimistic bout the next couple weeks. Whole lake might not be good but I think there will be more walking options soon

Found a spot to get out today. Ice was sketchy and there are some good size open holes and thin ice where cracks pulled apart and refroze. I fished on 3.5 inches. The ice actually sunk after I sat there for the morning  causing about 2 inches of water to pond where my shanty was sitting. I did have some decent action and it was nice to get out.

My daughter and I got out this morning (not on Oneida) to try out my new 1 man flip shanty. Fit us both way better than my last one and caught a handful of nice smallmouths.  I know a lot of people aren’t able to find ice yet so I included a pic to help with the itch.

I prefer a 2oz sinker for perch...when it hits 'em they won't feel a thing

Was able to get on some 10-12” perch today. 3-4 inches and some open water spots….hopefully it builds enough at night to handle these daytime highs coming up

Last week’s rain weakened the ice quite a bit.

The NOAA 8-14 at least shows normal temps for the end of the month. Maybe we’ll get a good push of cold after that. Hopefully we can dodge any big snow too.

There’s a few guys here and there on the lake. The ice conditions are too erratic for anyone to, want to post, to give advice on early conditions. Most seasoned anglers on here won’t give that info… not that we don’t want to… we won’t. Slamboney, a seasoned angler, posted yesterday on his outing. He only fished a few hours due to ice conditions getting bad. Best advice I can give is wait for solid reports. I for one, am still waiting impatiently for safe ice on Oneida….my annual prediction of safe ice conditions is drawing near the deadline. Meanwhile, I’ll go north a ways…. Be smart, be safe!!😎

Got the wife home from a 2.5 week Stretch at the hospital , she’s on the mend , then I buggered my shoulder
Now I’m grounded due to a GD cortisone shoulder flare for a couple more days , those fish better not have an appetite as I have a lot of fish to make up as my buds are killing me
Lmao
For the guys out be careful and post pics

Thinking of getting a snowmobile for just icefishing. Never owned a snowmobile before. Does anyone know the best one to use for icefishing?
