Headed to the bay tomorrow to try to find some whites with my boy. We fished them twice last year and he has been stuck on it since. Any insight on where to start? Last year I think we started near a green can and worked that area. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Don't mind sharing since I don't fish them and the markets crap. The green can between Hathaway PT and rock island is holding a lot of fish right now. Pretty tight lipped but we managed to catch some once we finally found them. They are fun to catch for sure. Enjoy!

Awesome thanks. Everyone keeps asking "why would you want to fish them? They aren't worth anything". If you have ever watch a 12 year old boy pulling slab after slab white perch you would know why.

I have gotten my full years supply of panfish in a single trip 3 years in a row, and they are delicious. I would also say that several of my fishing buddies would pick a white perch day as their favorite ice fishing trip. Hope to catch a mountain of them on Sunday!

Last year we did really well with spikes or small chunks of nightcrawler on small jigs.  Sounds like they are being a little finicky so far this year, though!

We were unable to find the whites today. Searched all over. Popped about 100 holes and was not marking many. A few here and there but definitely not a large school where we searched!!!

We were out there also just off the point.
We had to search too but ended with a bucket each.
Bite shut off about 9:30/10:00.

Yea it's all nasty anchor ice. Thick enough. Just rough dragging.

Where you in the shappell Vermont Mike? Or were you in the black shanty with the jiffy auger?

I was the one walking around drilling holes all over like an idiot lol. I went inbetween you and shore and headed up toward the boat launch a bit before I gave up.

A small piece of the side flesh of a bait fish...with skin attached. Gives it a lot of smell.

Loving this weather we're having.  I should sell inflatable rafts at launches to people heading out on the ice. Make a killing.

The whites are definatly there and you dont need cutbait. I was way away from the pack yesturday and pulled a very good amount. I drilled about 20 holes and then kept circling through them. Biggest was 14.5 inches at 1 pound 12 ounces https://www.instagram.com/p/BCEhpTbE-S1/?taken-by=johnrielly

I got a 14" that will go up there soon, doesn't look anywhere near as big as john's though... Curse these big hands. Got a MA seed on the walk off too. We started away from the crowd but mysteriously we were in the middle of it after a few hours.
