When Will The White Perch Show Up?

I missed out on last years white perch bonanza. Hoping people will post when (if) they start getting caught in quantities consistently. I want to take out a group of pre-teens to a successful fishing trip, first time ice fishing for most of them. Tight lines everyone!!!

When the moon is in the seventh house and Jupiter aligns with Mars and the moon is round and full, then the white perch will return and buckets will be filled. By this peace will guide the planets and love will steer the stars. It will be the dawning of the late season of that which we call hard water fishing.  :afro:

It is my guess, and only a guess. That they may be temperature related for spawning.  When and If it happens, I would hope someone would record the day, moon, time and temperatures.   to try and confirm for the next years.  If I find them, i will do that and share.

Knowing nothing about white perch this could be the answers that need to be determined.

Whites last year chased in a giant school of dying alewives into St Albans. Find the alewive school and most likely fins the whites following.

FYI,  just trying to get a few young people excited about our sport. A good first experience is important in my mind. Of course nothing is a given so always have hot dogs, venison, marshmellos, hot chocolate, etc to help time pass along. Of course having a couple girls along to keep the boys in line works too.  ;)

I was catching them steadily throughout the year since early Jan I think. But yes, later in the year they were tighter grouped and didn't move as much.

I thought I remembered reading about the white perch bite starting in late January last year. Thanks for everyone's input. Sounds like we are still not into that hot bite period for a while...if there is going to be one.

remarjs??  I've never caught one of those but I hear the anout fishing in Maine is phenomenal.
