Nelson reservoir

Planning on a trip to Nelson reservoir in a few week...is the ice good or am I wasting my time to drive 7 hours?  I do know about the gas pockets throughout the lake too

One can also call Sleeping Buffalo Hot Springs and usually get a fairly reliable report on ice thickness and conditions.
