How many?

How many tipups does your state or providence allow you to use at one time?  In NY it is five tip-ups or tip downs and 2 hand lines.

In Iowa we can use 2 tip-ups or 2 poles or 1 tip-up and 1 pole on all inland water, however on the Mississippi we can use 3 tip-ups and 2 poles at the same time!!

Direct from the Michigan DNR Fishing Guide

Quote
No more than two lines per person (including tip-ups) nor more than four hooks or lures may be used.

Quote
Tip-ups and similar devices used for ice fishing must show the angler's name and address. All lines must be under immediate control.

No leaving tip-ups on the ice over night and checking in the morning for Michiganders.

OH 6 tip-ups and 2 poles.  Unable to change this combo.

WI 3 lines.  Could be all poles or all tip-ups or any combo of 3.

Indiana you are allowed 3 lines of any combination of tip-ups or fishing rods. tips can't be left unattended. No spearing allowed or holes over 12" in any shape.
There is only one theory about angling in which I have perfect confidence, and this is that the two words, least appropriate to any statement, about it, are the words "always" and "never."

Every year a thread like this leaves me nauseated. This one is no exception. Being from Canadas most westerly province BC, we are allowed ONLY ONE LINE DOWN ANY HOLE. You can put out a tip-up then thats your line so you can't have any more, no jigging hole or handline hole. The only time you are allowed 2 lines is if you are alone in a boat.
Just once I want to take my inflatable boat down to the ice and drill 2 holes on both sides of the boat and see what the game department has to say. ;D

Here in Montana it depends on which District you are in. The western and central districts are 2 lines with 2 hooks per line through the ice. One exception is the lake we normally fish is 6 lines with 2 hooks per line.

The eastern district is 6 lines w/2 hooks per line.

All of these are in any combination of tip-ups and regular ice rods as well.

Nh- live free or die-----------6 traps
when chuck norris played golf for money, chuck marked down a hole in zero every time, the golf pro said, "chuck: you can't score zero on a hole." Chuck norris turned towards the man and said, "I'm chuck norris, the man proceeded to pour gas over his body and set himself on fire because that would be less painful than getting roundhouse kicked by chuck norris....chuck norris roundhouse kicked him in the face anyways

Right from the Nebraska Fishing Guide:

Quote
Ice-fishing: A total of five lines with
two hooks on each line are permitted
while ice fishing, unless restrictions
are listed for a specific area in the
Public Fishing Area section. Each icefishing
line must be under direct
supervision and within unaided
observation of the angler. Holes made
for ice-fishing may not exceed 10
inches in diameter on any area
controlled by the Commission.

Well... here in Pennsy it used to be 3 tip-ups and 2 handlines or 4 tip-ups and one hand line or 5 tip-ups but at no time were you allowed more than 2 handlines in a combination of 5 lines. Now...you are allowed 5 lines in any combination thereof...as long as they are legal devices...Tip-ups, tip-downs, slammers, arctic warriors, jigging rods, handlines, etc. as long as you use no more than 5 lines through the ice.....WK
