Ht Enterprises Quick Strike Rigs
« on: Jan 26, 2004, 12:15 PM »
I'm fairly new to fishing for pike through the ice and have never used a quick strike rig.  I picked up a couple from HT Enterprises this weekend and intend to give them a try.  The rigs I got consist of two treble hooks, one attached via a crimp to the end of a length of multistrand wire, while the other treble is attached to the wire with a piece of surgical tubing.  The tubing is the only thing that holds the hook to the wire and allows for adjustment.  How durable is this set-up?  If I hook a pike with the front treble, what are the chances of the fish tearing the surgical tubing and coming off?

I've also noticed that the multistrand wire used in the rigs (and for other leaders) develops kinks.  Any suggestions on how to straighten multistrand wire?  Does it really matter?

Thanks for your advice.
