It works well, just make sure to take a long rope and tie off to a tree on the bank. When you want to leave it is a lot less work to pull the boat back with the rope than to have to use an axe to pull your boat. The last two times we were out we found the chines on the bottom of the hull had sunk into the ice, we stood up and rocked the boat to break it free. Have fun, be safe.

For instructions on posting pictures see this thread;

Ice fishing fresh water is still fairly new in NS and the province is slow to react to demand or new ideas. At least we have a foot in the ice fishing door which until recently was closed and locked.

there is people standing on silver lake.. but i went with a boat off the beach and as i was pushing the boat out i broke through the ice.. luckily i fell into the boat before i went past my waist..the boat broke through the ice as we move out deeper.. but the guys on the other side of the lake were still standing way out on the ice yelling.. its safe if you stay apart... yeah right...lol they must have been related to jesus.....
3" of honey comb ice at silver lake by the beach...
sunken lake has about 2" but we broke through with the boat st croix has about 1 1/2" and broke though at shore.. and meadow pond has water on it.. so didnt even stop..

It took me some time to be able to hold the camera steady, as I was laughing so hard. I am glad it was not me having to axe my way in. Hope to see you guys on the lake this weekend.

What a unique way to ice fish, neat, lol.
At least you found a trout for your efforts.

Have not heard anything on Lake Paul or George. I have not fished these lakes as I only go for trout, might give them a try in March when the bow season closes.
